Australian Online Sports Betting Overview

Australian Online Sports Betting Overview

Since the introduction of online sports betting in Australia some thirty years ago more and more choice is given to the average punter on where they want to lay their money off when placing online sports bets. The Australian sports betting industry has changed dramatically in recent times due to the influx of well established European online bookmakers joining the ranks and due to the extra competition this has created within the marketplace we have seen both the new European heavyweights and the already established Australian betting sites fighting for market share and as in any competitive industry both new and existing bookmakers are always striving to stand out from the crowd with exciting new betting products and features.

Not long ago if you fancied a sports bet of any kind punters would head off to their local watering hole and place a bet using the TAB terminals provided by their states governing betting authority which consists of TAB owned by Tabcorp in New South Wales and Victoria, TABtouch owned by RWWA over in Western Australia and UBET owned by Tatts Group for Queensland, South Australian, Tasmanian and Northern Territory residents but as the internet and mobile phone technology became more prevalent many bookmakers saw an opportunity to cash in and while it took time for the established bookmakers to adapt to a more modern way of thinking other bookmakers seized the opportunity with both hands to step in and give punters better options and value.

The Pros and Cons of Online Betting Sites

The Pros and Cons of Online Betting Sites

If you like a bet which let’s face it most of us living in Australia do from time to time, as they say two Aussie’s would bet on two flies climbing a wall, then over the last few years you would have surely signed up to at least one if not a few online betting sites. There are many benefits in using online batting sites over the conventional TAB outlets either in side your local watering hole or down the local TAB shop but there are also some negatives too, within this article I will cover the pros and cons within the online betting world in relation to more traditional betting avenues.

There are many upsides regarding online betting and in my opinion, they far out weight the negatives with the best arguments listed below in why you should if you already have not switched to online betting.

Pros

The first and probably most important upside to online betting is speed and versatility, online betting sites through either their online sportsbook or mobile betting app offer punters many ways in which they can speed up their betting experience. Some of the most noticeable areas in which online betting sites far exceed the capabilities of terminal betting are listed below:

Australia Regain The Ashes After The Poms Collapse Once More

Australia Regain The Ashes After The Poms Collapse Once More

Australia's dominance continued on home soil in the Ashes as they once again put the lackluster poms to the sword in the third and decisive test at the WACA, apart from the 2010-11 series which England won 3-1 the Australian team have now won 17 out of the last 18 tests against England on home soil and it will be no surprise if the Aussies now go on to clinch the series with a 5-0 whitewash as they did in the 2013/14 and 2006/07 series.

Before the 2017 Ashes series most pundits came to the same conclusion in that if England were to get anything out of this series then the senior players had to stand up both with bat and ball, Cook, Root, Anderson and Broad would be the key players for England and their hopes of an upset. While Anderson and Broad have bowled well in spells they once again have under performed away from home bowling too short in the main which has enabled the Aussie batsmen to fill their boots while on the batting side Alistair Cook looks a shadow of his former self failing in every innings to date with a top score of only 37 out of six innings and Joe Root hasn't fared much better either with only two half centuries and a top score of 67 to  his name.

Melbourne Cup 2015 Result - Prince Of Penzance Pulls Off A Shock

 Melbournecup2015

The 2015 Melbourne cup turned out to be a thrilling affair as a plethora of horses battled it out up the straight to be crowned the 2015 champion, in a close finish it was a 100-1 rank outsider Prince Of Penzance ridden by Michelle Payne who took the honours holding off a spirited late run from Max Dynamite ridden by legendary European jockey Frankie Detorri with Criterion battling on to take third place ridden by Michael Walker.

Chris Froome Wins 2015 Tour De France

froome-2015

Chris Froome reigned supreme once again winning the 2015 Tour De France in superb fashion but a lot of the praise has to go to his team mates at Team Sky for a superb effort throughout the 21 stage event which saw Froome come under many attacks from the likes of Quintana, Valverde, Nibali and Contador but each time he was helped by his team mates at Sky to claw back any attack made by the top contenders for the overall classification. While Froome doesn’t have the blistering breakaway speed on the mountains as some of his rivals his tenacity to claw back riders who attack is clear for all to see and never panicking Chris and Team Sky pace the chase perfectly not to upset their own rhythm and in most cases the attacks from the main men in the race were all short lived.

Although Froome held the yellow jersey for most of the tour the challenge for the overall classification would always come down to stages 18, 19, and 20 up in the Alps on three gruelling stages with mountain top finishes. Team Sky and Froome would know that this is where he would be most vulnerable to the likes of Quintana and the real mountain specialists but try as they might they could not shake team Sky who’s organisation and discipline countered each and every attack and Froome was supported and paced right up to the last by each and every man in his team until they could give no more where then it was up to Chris to dog it out to the finish.

Zach Johnson Wins 2015 British Open

zach-johnson-open 3327726

Zach Johnson claimed victory at the 144th Open following a thrilling three-way play-off at St Andrews on Monday.

The 39-year-old American added to the Masters title he won eight years ago after winning a four-hole play-off with a par at the 18th after birdieing the first and second holes to defeat Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman.

Johnson had set the clubhouse target on 15 under after a closing 66 that was matched 40 minutes later by Leishman, whose total of 130 for the third and fourth rounds – he carded a flawless 64 on Sunday – equalled the lowest 36-hole total in major history.
